With a background spanning TechnologyOne, Consulting, and a stint at an AI start-up, Dan Shay brings a wealth of experience and a creative mindset to his role at Lánluas. Today, he leads the charge on Enterprise Content Management (ECM), helping clients streamline workflows, forms, and document processes to achieve compliance and efficiency.

ECM might seem straightforward, but there’s a lot of potential to get things wrong if a system isn’t set up properly. That can lead to compliance issues or significant rework later. Taking the time to get it right from the start makes all the difference.

I enjoy helping clients make the TechnologyOne system work for them, not against them. We give them regular reports, highlight any issues before they snowball, and make sure everything’s compliant and audit-ready. It’s rewarding to see the difference that makes.

For Dan, one of the standout aspects of working at Lánluas is the flexibility. Based just outside Brisbane’s CBD, he values the ability to work remotely, especially when it helps balance work and family life.

“The flexibility makes life easier,” he says. “My wife and I juggle caring for our child, and having that trust from Lánluas means a lot. There’s no micromanagement, and as long as the client is happy and the work is done, Lánluas is happy. I can always reach out to the leadership team if I need support.”

When asked how his colleagues would describe him, Dan doesn’t hesitate: easy-going, grounded, pragmatic, and considerate. He believes in keeping things simple and human. “Good communication is everything,” he says. 

Be easy to work with, listen carefully, and let the client guide you. They should always feel heard and supported.

Outside of work, Dan has an unexpected story to tell. As a child, he once survived a plane crash! His father used to fly small aircraft, and during one flight, they had to make a crash landing when the plane ran out of fuel near Warrnambool. Thankfully, both walked away unscathed, though it’s not an experience he’s in a hurry to repeat.

If he could host a dinner party with anyone, his guest list would mix comedy, nostalgia, and family connection: Adam Sandler, Jack Black, Aubrey Plaza, and his late grandfather, Dennis.
